NOTE: THIS SYSTEM DOES NOT UTILIZE ANY TYPE OF BALANCE SYSTEM AND IS PROVIDED AS INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY: A window balance is a mechanism ( tube, channel or other part ) that allows a single hung or a double hung window ( sashes ) to open and close smoothly and effortlessly. The balance systems counter the force of gravity and holds the sash of the window unit in place. A primary reason homeowners replace their old windows is because they will not open / close easily or sashes will not stay open. The most common cause of this problem is a window balance that is broken, old, or no longer existing or functioning as it should. This item is out of stock at this time.

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY: For instance, a normal Block and Tackle Balance Functions using an extension spring (force) to act as a counter balance for the weight and size of the window sash. Normally they have a pulley and cord system, tube and spiral or other design to control the tension as the sash moves up and down in the frame making it easy to open / close with minimal effort.

All you do is remove the inside strip at the top and sides of old units; Remove the old wood window sashes and the old obsolete rope and pully systems parts, remove all old and thick paint where liners are to be installed; Also a viable option replacement for those old aluminum jambliners or old metal units. Measure the window frame size and trim as needed to long side and shrort side measurements. Set sashes on a chair and make sure the window sashes are in the proper position and that the "angle cuts" on the liners are facing the correct position. Apply the supplied silicone lubricant to tracks in order for sash to glide easier on both sides. Pick up the sashes and liners together and place the bottom first and then slide top into position; Slide windows up and down several times to work the silicone lubricant into old sashes. A light bead of caulking should be applied on the outside of the liner facing you as this will prevent air infiltration around the back side of the liner; Re-install all trim and enjoy your weatherstripped windows.
